Metaphor and Construction- Wang, Hyung-yeul¡¯s Recent Work – Oh, Kwang-su/ Art CriticHis more recent work is entitled ¡®After Seeing Winter Through¡¯. While the previous series of ¡®Seeing Winter Through¡¯ had been metaphoric and symbolic, both constructive and pictorial elements entirely prevail the recent series of work. If the lifetime journey through brutal times is portrayed in the series ¡®Seeing Winter Through¡¯, the recent work expresses a more conceptualized flying image of birds with the clear broken feeling of the times. The images of birds once metaphorically portrayed the lives surrounding the artist, including his family¡¯s and his own, but the images of a bird¡¯s flying instinct now obtain the generality, the desire for freedom as a symbolic image. Maybe this portrays the changes that the artist went through, no more attached so much to reality but flying to more spiritually enhanced world.

Paintings of Flower & Birds by Cho, hee-Kyung- A Visual Interpretation of Music – Jong, Jung-ran, PH. D in Art History , Literature
Cho, Hee-Kyung has reinterpreted Flower-Bird Painting, one of the representative traditional Oriental painting styles, in a contemporary sense. In her earlier work, splendid flowers, butterflies flying over the flowers, and small weeds, whose roots were strongly spread on the ground, delivered a message of hope and comfort to human beings.
This exhibition shows the artist¡¯s new perspective about flower-Bird painting based on the music theory of Confucian esthetics. The social utility of art came before the esthetic aspect in Confucian esthetics, Painting therefore, was to cleanse human sensitivity rather than to appeal a visual pleasure.

¡¦I. Pin-Hua of Se-Jeoung Lee is embedded with free spirit and bountiful imagination of the artist. According to the artist¡¯s words, ¡° The ink is initiated anew by the brush, and they together are coming into a being. This process of transformation is let to the birth of an art work.¡± Indeed one can see that the ink, the brush, and the initiation of their movement in oneness are the attributes of her works themselves. The inner spirit which is relentlessly sprouting out of the artist runs through the brush, halts, disperses, and gets solidified into so many wings of imagination¡¦
